British tennis star Emma Raducanu wraps up the current season and has decided to continue with trainer for 2026.
The British player advanced to round three in three out of four Grand Slams this year.
Britain's Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from her remaining competitions in 2025 because of the illness she has been fighting for the last week and a half.
Raducanu, aged 22 was scheduled to compete in events in Asia but chose to travel back to rest and recuperate prior to beginning her preparations for 2026.
Her upcoming training are set to feature coach Francisco Roig, as they have agreed to work together again next season.
Raducanu underwent blood pressure monitoring while playing the initial match with Ann Li in Wuhan last week and retired when behind 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.
She again required medical attention at the Ningbo Open this week, where she fell in a three-set match to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in the first round.
She was also playing noticeably restricted in the final set in the match with Zhu owing to back discomfort that has affected her at times this year.
These outcomes meant an encouraging season, in which she climbed into the international top 30 after a long gap since her previous ranking, concluded with three straight losses.
She held three match points before losing to Pegula in round three in last month's Beijing event.
She secured 28 matches this year and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but her most impressive week was at March's Miami Open.
As Britain's top player reached the quarter-finals of the WTA 1000 event, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro en route before losing in a three-set match to the world number four Pegula.
She worked with Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in in time for the US Open.
The original arrangement with the former trainer of Nadal was until the end of the season but the collaboration persists, with a training session scheduled late this year.
She mentioned that her three-day trial with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.
The player was close to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at their first tournament together in Cincinnati during August.
The coach also accompanied Raducanu in New York, where she advanced to round three prior to losing to Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
