News has broken that beloved actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the newest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Production is currently underway.
An Important Comeback for the Franchise
Lawrence and Hutcherson will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the roles they originated. Speculation suggests their appearance will likely occur in a brief glimpse ahead, considering the main film series concluded with their characters married and with children.
This represents the sixth installment in the global Hunger Games franchise.
Exploring the New Story
Sunrise on the Reaping is adapted from a 2025 novel by author Suzanne Collins. It will be the second prequel film after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Returning to the director's chair is Francis Lawrence, who was behind most of the previous films in the series.

The film's narrative are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, spotlighting a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, who would later become Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the brutal 50th Hunger Games.
