Toronto Blue Jays Earn World Series Meeting With defending champion Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder contributed to the Houston Astros winning the championship in the 2017 season.

Toronto's Blue Jays reached their initial championship series following 1993 by beating the Mariners in the seventh seventh game of the ALCS.

Trailing by two runs, the star outfielder smashed a three-run homer in the seventh, guiding the Toronto squad in the majors to a 4-3 triumph in the series. Awaiting them are the defending champions, the team that is the current crown, in the anticipated World Series.

"I'm thrilled for everyone here, Toronto, Canada," Springer stated, an integral part of the Astros team that won the 2017 title. "This is such an unbelievable moment."

Springer has now hit 23 total October home runs, making him third in history trailing only Manny Ramirez (29) and Altuve (27).

"It's hard to imagine another player anywhere that I want up in that spot other than George Springer with his playoff prowess," noted manager John Schneider.

Seattle's team, who had led the series 2-0 and 3-2, remain the only MLB franchise yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.

Wilson stated "certainly that it hurts" after his team's loss at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but applauded their performance throughout the year.

"It's a special team. Sadly that we finished on the unsuccessful side of this game," he added.

The Blue Jays won the championship on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and '93, and will welcome the Dodgers in game one on the upcoming Friday.
