Tributes Flow for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Remain Under Wraps.
Well beyond 14 days following the shocking loss of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones persist in remembering the duo.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, stated he just recently felt prepared to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has passed that I can finally express my sorrow into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "As we began sharing more moments together I understood this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor posted archival material from the movie, adding that he doesn't recollect "any day without laughter".
"This story is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob cherished deeply. Which is among the many reasons he was the best person to guide it," Elwes expressed.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, stating: "To say that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I remember you." He finished with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Colleague and Comrade
In a distinct tribute, legendary director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the lead role.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked beautifully with his co-stars, and he comprehended the human predicament of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Withheld
Recently, a Los Angeles judge ruled to bar the disclosure of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, following a petition from the LAPD.
A judicial mandate placed a security hold on the investigation to prohibit the public release of "related notes, notes, reports or photos" pertaining to the active case.
The coroner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the consequence of homicide, with a public database listing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Response and Criticism
In the wake of the deaths, public figures expressed different responses.
Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, offering divisive claims that were broadly criticized by numerous individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his voice to the critics last week. Conversing on his podcast, Rogan characterized the comments as "disappointing" and implied they showed a troubling lack of empathy.
Rogan finished by proposing that an adviser should have acted when the choice to speak on the passing was made.
